Ben and Darla were so gracious to let us use their awesome house this year. And it was perfect for ROOTED's annual costume bash. We had lots of kitty cats, a vampire, lumber jack, a priest, 2 Dorothy's, army men, FBI, a bumble bee, an angel, and a lady bug. . . and so much more. Winners for best costumes went to Jonathan Shea, Westley Cone (all because he wore his tighty whiteys on the outside of his pants) and Sarah Hileman! There was great food, great games, great dancing, Goonie watching and overall great fun! April and Phil Evans worked their tails off to make this party happen, and they did a tremendous job! Thanks to everyone who pitched in food, decor, and effort to decorate and set up for the party! AWESOMEEEEE!

Hume Lake 09!
The Forty who represented "Rooted" from Sunrise had an amazing time at Hume this past labor day weekend. The music was good. The speaker was good. The food was good. And the fellowship and chance to focus on our Savior without any other distraction was awesome! Out of 5 tournaments, Sunrise walked away with 3 championships and almost took all 5! Liz and Randy Baldwin just barely lost the ping pong tournament. And Greg and Steve and their team came in second in the basketball tournament. Matt Fadling walked away with the "Get that chicken" championship. Greg, Randy, Liz, Dave Pelz and Steph Long dominated the volleyball tournament. And Joe Snyder came in a close 3rd place in the kajabe kan kan tournament. Praise the Lord for watching over us, protecting us, and meeting us exactly where we were that weekend-spiritually. Our Savior is GREAT and we thank Him for the time we had at Hume!

Yosemite 09
So a group led by Randy Baldwin and Neena were brave enough to hike half dome in Yosemite this past weekend. I heard it took about 12 hours round trip to get to the top and then back down again. If you look closely at one of the pictures below, there is a trail of people making their way up to the very top of half dome. But they are so small it looks like a line of ants on a ant hill. Good job guys! Climbing half dome is never something I will be able to say I did in my lifetime. =)

Sunday Sunday!
We had a fun Sunday! Our morning worship was great. Phil and Sarah and "the band" are just doing awesome. We are so grateful for them all. We wished Aimee a Happy Birthday with a big sign and group photo that we emailed to her. And then we headed to the Pelz's House for some AMAZING TACOS!! Thank you Randy and Terry and David! It was a great day!

Beach Camping!
Beach Camping was amazing and such a blast! We played beach volleyball, ultimate beach frisbe, played Bible jeopardy, sang songs while making smores, sat in the sauna, and listened to reggae music in the parking lot while making tacos and burritos. The landscape was gorgeous. The weather was cold. And God gave us a great weekend!

With the end of Adversarial April comes the victorious winners. . .THE GUYS! Though they were trailing the leading girls in the last three weeks, they came back and won the extensive relay race last night by 200 points and 10 feet. The girls started off leading the race but then the guys took a huge leap ahead. Finally in the end it came down to Lauren and Aaron Hight crab walking on the grass to the finish line. The girls by far had the most spirit and the most new friends join us, but alas, it is their fate to feed the opposite sex a Nice meal on a date to be determined! Good job guys! I really thought the girls had it this year. It was a close one!

Winter Retreat 09!
Our winter weekend at Sierra Pines was so much fun. These pictures are only a glimpse of our weekend. Once I get more photos that other people took on their cameras I'll add another slide show, maybe even a video of some super fun sled runs! God definitely blessed our time there. We had good heart to heart moments, hilarious skits, worship, games, Godly challenges, and Snow, Snow, Snow! If you missed out this year, join us next year, it's going to be even better!

Service Sunday a Huge WOW
The S.S.S. (Surprise Service Sunday) for February was so much fun. We had a great turn-out despite the rain, and all I can say is WOW! =) The W.O.W. ministry is a wonderful one that reaches out to local disabled people in our community. Every other weekend these young people along with volunteers gather to encourage each other and play games together. It truly is so much fun, and if you haven't checked it out-do so! You'll be glad you did.

Ice Skating Anyone?
Ice Skating in Folsom-so much fun! Cold, but super fun! Let's see here, who fell hard? Byron shook the ice. Sarah hit three times? Becky fell too, but I think that was because of Greg. Devenie and Megan fell. Oh and Josh and John Rugg got a little taste of ice as well. Good times!
